

Maria was born in Bari, Italy, on the Adriatic coast and emigrated to the U.S. in 1952 with her infant daughter, Vera to join her husband, Joseph who had emigrated a year and a half prior. They settled in Buffalo, NY where other family members were living.
Maria had a 30-year career working for the M. Weil Clothing Company in Buffalo, NY where she eventually became a supervisor. M. Weil tailored suits for the high-end men’s market, including the Johnny Carson and Nino Cerutti labels. In fact, because of her tailoring skills, Maria was chosen to do the fittings on Mr. Carson on the occasions when he came to the factory.
She was a longtime member of the Opera Buffs Society of Buffalo. In addition, she was an active participant in the African Violet Society of Buffalo.
Mrs. Di Benedetto is survived by her daughter, Vera Gagen (Joseph), granddaughters, Cristina Stephenson (Timothy) of Peachtree City, Ga., Jessica Zigrossi (Jonathan) of Williamsville, NY, grandson, Steven Mamon, and son-in law Paul Mamon of Williamsville, NY, four great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, both in the States and in Italy. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Joseph, her daughter, Adelaide (Delia) Mamon, two sisters and three brothers.
A visitation for Maria will be held Tuesday, May 27, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Perna, Dengler, Roberts Funeral Home, 1671 Maple Road, Williamsville, NY 14221. A Mass of Christian Burial will occur Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at 10:30 AM at St Gregory the Great RC Church, 200 St Gregory Court, Williamsville, New York 14221.
