

Alice R. Sklansky died peacefully on June 6, 2016 in Wilmette, IL. Mrs. Sklansky was born on April 17, 1924 in Brooklyn, NY to her parents, Max and Mina Reizen. She graduated from the University of Chicago with a Masters in Social Work. She married Morris A. Sklansky, M.D. in 1946. The Sklanskys lived and raised their family in Chicago and Evanston. Alice taught Social Work and was a published author. At the time of her retirement, she was a Social Work Consultant and Mentor at The House of the Good Shepherd in Chicago, IL. Mrs. Sklansky was a devoted and supportive teacher and was deeply committed to improving the lives of underprivileged children and battered women. She had an enduring influence on those she trained. Her pleasant, caring nature, relentless thoughtfulness of others and warm smile will be remembered by her family, friends and caregivers. She was a patron of the arts and passionate about travel, culture, civilizations and many additional intellectual pursuits. Mrs. Sklansky is survived by her daughter, Laura, son Paul (Rob), son Andy (Sue) brother Maurice Reizen, three grandsons, Max, Jake and Ben, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Morris. Mrs. Sklansky's life will be celebrated in a ceremony on June 25, 2016 at 10:30 AM.
