Thanks to everyone who has shared their love for Bernie and all of the great stories. We had a very nice service earlier today. I’m confident that Bernie would have really enjoyed it. Rabbi Tillman and the staff at Weinstein and Piser Funeral Home (special mention to Jamie, our funeral director) played a big role in making today a celebration of Bernie’s life. As has been mentioned before,, he truly was one of the good guys. I’d say a great guy. 
Bernie, we love you and you’ll never be forgotten.  Thank you for your service to our country and to the city of Chicago for three decades. We miss you already,

Bernie was a fellow detective in the old auto theft unit for so many years starting in the early seventies.    He was a pleasure to be around and very good worker.  He loved to participate in our occasional fishing trips and just about any event worth celebrating.  He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.  Sorry for your loss.   It is with a sad heart that I learned of your passing.  You were a class act in 001 when we worked together, always there when needed and always with a smile.  Also, thank you for your service in the military on behalf of our grateful nation.  Although it's been a quarter century since we last met, know that your dedication, friendship and personality will remain a positive memory of our times together, 'on the job.'  May the good Lord now invite you into His kingdom and announce the arrival of yet another of..."Chicago's Finest."

Worked with Bernie for many years in the Auto Theft Section. He was one of the "Good Guys".  RIP My Friend.

Bernie was the officer that was at the desk downtown when I was held up in my taxi cab in 1971.  He helped me to calm down and feel better.  I remember what a nice guy he was to this very day.  

Rest in Peace Bernie just talked to you a few weeks ago. The picture of Bernie and I was taken when you made Detective and the last day we worked together 1972. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🙏🙏🙏

Bernie and I worked many a tour in the 1st District, I always looked forward to working with him !!!!
