Betty L. Gilbert passed away peacefully on March 24, 2025. She was born on January 27, 1922, to Joseph Gilbert and Rose Francke Gilbert. After graduating from Senn High School, Betty earned a bachelor’s degree at Northwestern University and then had a long career as a beloved English teacher at Amundsen High School. Betty was predeceased by her parents and by her sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Max Pyster. She will be missed by her nephew, Robert Pyster of Wheeling, IL; her niece, Nancy Willie-Schiff of Loudonville, NY; her great nephew, Zeth Willie, and great niece, Mara Null, both of New York City, and their families; and many extended family members. A graveside service will take place on April 7 at 11:00 am at Zion Gardens Cemetery, 3600 North Narragansett Avenue in Chicago.
