Born on September 16, 1947, in Chicago, Bob was a deeply engaged member of the Glencoe community, where he raised his family. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Jean; his daughter, Jen Cimala, and her husband, Taylor; his son, Jeff, and his wife, Isabelle James; and his four beloved grandchildren, Eloise, Henry, Zev, and Naomi, to whom he was a devoted and proud Papa.
Bob began nearly every day with a cappuccino from Starbucks and a visit to the Glencoe lakefront to watch the sunrise. He found joy in reading the newspaper or a great book, going to the theater, traveling, and engaging in meaningful conversation with his wide circle of friends. Above all else, he cherished time spent with his beloved family.
Bob was passionate about social justice and deeply believed in the promise of America and the possibility of a better world.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 1, at 1:30 p.m. at Temple Jeremiah in Northfield. Shiva will follow at Bob and Jean’s home on Sunday afternoon and Monday evening. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ACLU and Temple Jeremiah.
