Brian was a devoted father, survived by his three sons, Evan, Jonathan, and Joey. His boys were his greatest pride and accomplishment. No conversation with him was complete unless he relayed some recent achievement or keen observation made by one of his boys. He is also survived by his brother, Matthew Hurst; sister-in-law, Mandy Zaransky-Hurst; his beloved nieces, Magnolia and Annika, and his former wife and amazing co-parent, Nancy Cohen Hurst.
He was preceded in death by his father, Stephen Hurst, his mother, Shirley Hurst Susman, and his loyal and loving dog, Silver.
Brian was a phenomenal storyteller and friend to many. He had a deep passion for the law, building a family law practice that grew from just him to over a dozen people. He was known for his dedication and commitment to his clients, his wit, and sharp legal mind. Outside of his profession, he embraced life fully and shared that enthusiasm with his sons, introducing them to world travel, food, and music. He loved live music and playing the guitar, anytime day or night.
He will also be remembered for his signature bratwurst, a product of a full summer’s labor and experimentation from his youth. This small but meaningful tradition brought family and friends together.
Brian’s legacy lives on through his sons and the many lives he touched.
