Our hearts heavy with grief, we must announce that Carol Ann Lambert, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, born in 1941 in Jacksonville, FL, died Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at the age of 81 from complications of surgery after a long illness. She had been physically frail for many years but never lost her intellectual sharpness or love of life and family. She was a successful entrepreneur, a fine cook and artist, and a lover of grandchildren, books, gardens, and anything British. She was a woman of tremendous moral clarity, physical courage, resilience, stamina, and grit in the face of very challenging obstacles.
She is survived by her devoted, loving husband of 60 years, Howard J. Lambert, her sons David, Bruce, and Eric (Kristin Ross) Lambert, her sister-in-law Maxine Gronsbell, as well as by 6 grandchildren Ben, Jonas, Ivy, Ella, Charlie, and Ethan, as well as many cousins, nieces, friends, and acquaintances. She was preceded in death by her brother Donald and her sister-in-law Mary Ann, her own parents Lucius Luther Estridge and Marie Isabel Dehoff Estridge, and her beloved parents-in-law Carl and Mildred Lambert.
Her life was a magnificent and unlikely journey from Jacksonville, Florida to Chicago, Illinois. She got a degree in pharmacy long before it was common for women to be in the health professions other than nursing. She overcame sexism and overt sexual harassment working in pharmaceutical manufacturing at Donald Rumsfeld-era G. D. Searle in the 1970s. She went on to be a very successful executive recruiter in the pharmaceutical industry, founding and leading her own company, Lambert Management Consultants.
She was surrounded by her husband and children in her final moments. Her passing leaves a giant hole in our family. We will miss her and hold her memory in our hearts always. We take some small comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering, and her spirit can be free.
May flights of angels sing her to her rest.
A graveside service for Carol will be held Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at 1 PM at Shalom Memorial Park, 1700 W Rand Rd, Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Reception to follow at Jameson's Original Charhouse, 1331 W Dundee Rd, Arlington Heights, IL 60004, until approximately 5 PM.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.weinsteinfuneralhomes.com for the Lambert family.
