

Carolyn Kloppenburg Howard, 75, of Evanston, IL (formerly of Winnetka), died April 23, 2015, of a torn aorta. Born Glendale, CA, lived in Seattle, WA, Hinsdale, IL, Scottsdale, AZ, and Greenwich, CT. Graduated U. of Washington 1961. Director of Admissions and college counselor North Shore Country Day School, Winnetka. Loving and kind, she enjoyed quiet candlelight dinners with her husband, gardening and travel; was always there for her children and a mentor to many more. An effervesnt presence and constant improver. She knew how to listen and understand. The bravest of the brave who truly loved living. Beloved wife of Carter Howard. Loving mother of Karen R. Arenson (nee Riggs)(Steven) and David H. Riggs (Liz); cherished stepmother of Katherine Rogers (nee Howard) (Dr Gary), Stephen Howard-Sarin (Saloni) and Claire Howard. Adored and loving grandmother to Alex, Emma, Kate, Brian, Jenna, Henry, Michael, Nora, and Brij. Memorial service at Christ Church, 784 Sheridan Road, Winnetka, IL 60093 Thursday, May 7, 2015 at 3:00 pm. Reception following.
