Dennis Jay Drescher died peacefully at home on July 28th, 2025. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer just one month ago. He spent that precious time surrounded by those he loved and who loved him with all their hearts.
Dennis could light up a room. He had a brilliant mind and always had something to say. He was generous in all ways, and always made time to help his family and friends. He loved life, and he loved his family more than words can express.
He was the very best husband, father, “papa”, brother, uncle, and friend. He was committed to helping sick children and wanted to make the world a better place in any way he could. He was truly one of a kind. He will live forever in our hearts and memories.
Dennis was preceded in death by his mother Helen and father Sidney.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Donna, his loving children Jacob Drescher (Anat), Rachel Drescher Smith (Zach), Julia Richmond (Evan), Benjamin Drescher (Arielle). His adoring Grandchildren Zachary and Hudson Drescher, Brando, Rocky and Goldie Smith, Blake, Sydney and Maverick Richmond, and Rafa Drescher, and his two sisters, Michelle Shabot (David) and Jodi Greene (Jeffrey) and so many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service for Dennis will be held Wednesday, July 30, 2025 11:00 AM at North Shore Congregation Israel, 1185 Sheridan Rd, Glencoe, IL 60022.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pancreatic Cancer Research at Northwestern Memorial Hospital (nmgive.donordrive.com/dennisdrescher) or Lurie Children’s Pediatric Cancer Program (www.luriechildrens.org/drescher).
