On September 24, 2024 Doris C. Schachter left the loving hearts of her family at age 88. Doris will be cherished by her family, Fran (James) Lucari and Betsy (David) Kipnis. Doris is a beloved Bubbie to Eric (Veronica) Lucari, Brandon (Elena) Lucari, Alana Kipnis, Alexander Kipnis, and many grand dogs and cats. Doris is survived by her brother Charles Tobolowsky.
Doris was an independent woman who worked her way through the secretarial pool all the way into accounting. She raised 2 children mostly by herself, and was a supportive listener who many enjoyed talking with. We will miss Doris's flare and sparkle, she was a person who lived on her own terms and for this we appreciate her.
A private graveside service will be held for immediate family at Memorial Park Cemetery on October 25, 2024. In lieu of flowers family members are encouraging others to donate to and support the Periwinkle Foundation which provides one week of overnight camp for children with cancer: periwinklefoundation.org. Alternatively, consider supporting World Central Kitchen (wck.org) founded by chef Jose Andres that provides food relief to people in areas contending with disaster or war.
