Elizabeth Wendelin "Wendy" Fraser (nee Blatchley), 77, passed away on Feb. 12, 2022. Beloved wife of Yosef "Yossi" Levanon; cherished mother of Ross (Wei) Fraser and Jaimie (Jeno) Somlai; treasured grandmother of Orissa, Jacob, Olivia and Nica; dearest sister to Jeremy (Rachel) Blatchley, Jennifer (Landis) Blatchley-Smith and sister-in-law Lynne Blatchley; beloved aunt of many. Wendy was preceded in death by her mother and father, Elmer Alin and Gladys Blatchley, her brother Larry Blatchley, her first husband, Dennis Fraser, and other extended family. Wendy was born June 1, 1944, in Doylestown, PA, to Alin and Gladys Blatchley. The family moved to Chicago in the '50s, where she attended New Trier High School and graduated cum laude with a BA in Education from Knox College in Galesburg, IL. She resided in the Chicago area until the early 1990s, when she moved to Boston and married Rabbi Yosef Levanon. The couple then moved to Philadelphia, Fayetteville, NC, and Charleston, SC, before recently returning to the Chicago area to be closer to family. Over the years, Wendy was an elementary school teacher and an administrative assistant. Of the many jobs she held, she was particularly proud of her time at Northwestern University Medical School, where she served on the advisory committee and was honored with a staff recognition award, as well as the years she spent at the Cumberland County Library in North Carolina, where she retired. Wendy was also deeply involved in the Beth Israel Synagogue in Fayetteville, NC, where Yosef served as Rabbi from 1996 until his retirement in 2012. Wendy loved the arts and enjoyed drawing, reading, traveling and spending time with family. Her sense of humor, kind and positive spirit, caring nature, and deep concern for others will be dearly missed by all of her family and friends. Private funeral services have been held. A celebration of Wendy's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society at http://main.acsevents.org/goto/WendyFraser, or to the Beth Israel Congregation in Fayetteville, NC. Please make contributions to Beth Israel in the name of Hannah Levanon.
