Gloria was a stalwart patron of the arts in the Chicago area for 50 years. She generously and graciously gave her time, her energy and her creativity to several cultural organizations. She volunteered for the Ravinia Festival as the co-editor of Noteworthy: A Collection of Recipes from the Ravinia Festival; served as a docent at the Art Institute for 50 years, supported the Lyric Opera and was a long-time board member of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
She was born in the city of Chicago and spent her entire life living within 25 miles of her birth place. She went to Senn High School and then to Northwestern University, where she met her husband of 56 years, Richard, in French class. They raised their family in Highland Park and then moved back to the city in 1975.
She was a loving mother to Bonnie, Tom (Carol) and John (Robin), a doting sister to Judy (Al), a cherished grandmother to Benjamin (Michelle), Peter (Anna), Will, Jacob and Julia, and a proud great grandmother to Remy, Gemma, Essie and Mira. She is predeceased by her husband, Richard and her sister, Sandra (late Eric). Funeral services will be private.
