Honore Sue Schlesinger Kligerman "Bookie" passed away on June 12, 2025, at the age of 92. She was the daughter of Allan and Rose Schlesinger and was married to Dr. Charles Kligerman. A lifelong Chicagoan, she was born and raised in Hyde Park where she raised her family. Years later, she moved to Lincoln Park. She loved the Lakefront and its environs.
Honore embraced the arts, including fashion, the decorative arts, architecture and music. She wanted to experience all that the world offered and traveled extensively. Her wit, intelligence and unfettered sense of humor were enchanting and renowned. She enjoyed throwing dinner parties where she would entertain friends, faculty from the University of Chicago and the Institute for Psychoanalysis, and creators of the arts. She had a natural sense of style and was a professional clothing designer for many years. Always a trendspotter, she was an early and loyal supporter of Apple, Starbucks and Whole Foods. She was distinctive and beautiful, making an impression on everyone she met. She was easily recognized by her Alain Mikli sunglasses, silver star earrings and dark magenta lipstick.
She deeply loved her family, and is survived by her devoted children Daniel, Rachel, and Peter and her beloved grandsons Max and Jason, and her son- and daughter-in-law, Kevin Gilbert and Zuly Madrid.
A Celebration of Life will be scheduled for later this summer. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to No Kid Hungry (www.nokidhungry.org) or the ACLU (www.aclu-il.org).
