Howard was born August 4, 1931 in Chicago, IL to Joseph and Ida Ruskin, and was the adored younger brother of Harriet. Growing up in Albany Park, he loved toy cars, riding his bike and playing baseball in Jensen Park.
He attended Rosevelt High School and graduated with a law degree from DePaul University. When he set up his law practice, he believed himself to be the youngest self-employed attorney in Chicago at that time. He soon pivoted to a successful career in real estate development and was still making deals at the time of his passing.
In 1958 he married Raina, with whom he spent 65 years, and together they raised Julie and Paula. His family was by far his greatest joy, followed closely by golf, gin rummy, the Cubs, the Bulls, a good marching band, a great meal, and his nightly martini.
Howard is survived by his wife Raina, daughters Julie (Joe) Schultze and Paula Gorelik (Gary Lindsey), and grandchildren Kelsey and Danny Gorelik, and Will, Peter, and Jack Schultze. He is also survived by former son-in-law Ken Gorelik. At 92, he was preceded in death by almost everyone, including his parents Joe and Ida Ruskin, sister Harriet Rutkoff, brother-in-law Roy Rutkoff, and nephew Alan Rutkoff.
May his memory be a blessing.
