Israil Shtern, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on August 26, 2025, at the age of 89. A man of strength, perseverance, humor and quiet wisdom, Israil lived a long and fulfilling life dedicated to his family and to the pursuit of a better future.
Born in Tbilisi, Georgia, Israil made the courageous decision in 1981 to immigrate to the United States with his family from Russia, seeking greater opportunity and freedom. With determination and heart, he built a new life from the ground up—laying a foundation that would benefit generations to come.
He was the devoted husband of nearly 50 years to his late wife Nina, whose memory he cherished deeply after her passing a decade ago. In recent years, he found joy, companionship, and laughter once again with his loving partner, Sara Furman, who brought warmth and happiness to his later years.
Israil is survived by his two daughters, Julia Becich and Elena Shtern, who were the pride of his life, and by his four cherished granddaughters: Jordyn Becich, Maya Becich, Kaelyn Becich, and Samantha Pindiak. He loved them dearly and took great joy in their accomplishments, always offering them guidance and unwavering support.
His life was a testament to resilience, love, and the quiet power of family. Israil’s legacy will live on in the values he passed down, the stories he shared, and the family he helped shape.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
