Jean passed away peacefully at the age of 92 and was a lifelong Evanston resident. She graduated from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University and over many years hosted Northwestern University foreign graduate students with her husband. It was their desire to make these students feel at home in a county far from their own home and families. Thanksgiving was an interesting holiday with the Doubs as their guests included the students, their friends and any family that happened to be in town at that time. It was something Jean looked forward to each year.
Aside from entertaining friends and family, another passion was sports. Over the years she attended many tailgate parties in the parking lot at the Northwestern football games and watched the games on tv when she was not there in person. Jean always knew the scores of all the games. In addition to the Wildcats, she was also an avid Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan.
Jean was a generous individual who supported local animal shelters as well as lending a helping hand to anyone who needed it. She will be missed by her many friends and her family and is survived by her husband of 56 years Richard Doub.
In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to St Jude Children's Research Hospital or Anti Cruelty Society Chicago.
Friends and family will gather for a celebration of life gathering for Jean that will be held Friday, July 14th, 2023 from 10 AM to 12 PM in the Calvin Circle Living Room at Westminster Place, 3200 Grant Street, Evanston Illinois 60201.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.WmScottFuneralHome.com for the Doub family.
