I first Jerry Bloom when I needed actors for a directed reading of my adaptation of the Nero Wolfe novella by Rex Stout, Bitter End. My director, Terry McCabe, put together a group of fine actors for this purpose. Jerry volunteered--my budget was minuscule--to take on the role of Wolfe. 

When we met, I mentioned to Jerry how much I enjoyed his role of Watson in a Sherlock Holmes production by City Lit Theater. This pleased him for the recognition. 

Jerry was friendly, warm, very helpful, and highly professional. His Wolfe was perfect, and his performance added so much to the production. It was a wonderful experience for me, and I would hope, for him.

We the family in the UK send our condolences. We only discovered Jerome and the wider US Family in recent years and our contact with Jerome was only occasional; usually at festive or holiday times, which I personally regret. He was such an interesting personality and I would have liked to have known him better. May he rest in peace.

Jerry was a wonderful gentleman who I've known for many years. Condolences to his family and friends.

Just learning this sad news, after being out of town.
My deepest condolences to the Bloom family on the passing of Jerome--whom I knew less formally as Jerry. We were classmates as undergraduate students at Northwestern, and kindred spirits in the world of performing arts. 
Though out of touch through the years, except when trying to convince him to attend our Northwestern reunions, I am filled with fond memories of Jerry's wit, his style and his good heart. 
May his memory be for a blessing.

Our deepest condolences to Jerry's family and dear friends. Jerry was a friend of ours of many years and we enjoyed many Shabbat dinners together at our home and shared many other happy events  He was part of the simchas for our children, Rachel and Matthew, never failed to ask about them, never failed to support their efforts. We attended many of his performances and were great fans. A kind and compassionate man who we will miss very much.
May his memory be for a blessing.
