Joan S. Young nee Pomerantz, 86, loving wife of the late Richard; beloved mother of Rick (Marie Schmidt), Pamela (Tony Benassi) and Wendy (Charles Shaffer); adored grandmother of Nicholas and Rachel; fond sister of Anita and Melvin. Joan spent all of her adult years in Highland Park. She was an active member of her community as well as one of it's teachers for 30 years. Joan and her beloved husband, Richard loved to travel the world. She was happiest surrounded by her family. Joan touched so many lives and was loved by all. Memorial service Sunday 11 AM at Weinstein & Piser Funeral Home, 111 Skokie Blvd, Wilmette.
