Katherine S. Platt

Katherine Steed Platt, 88, born in Kissimmee, FL and longtime resident of Northfield, passed away May 23, 2013. Beloved wife of John H. “Jack” Jr.; loving mother of Kathy Platt (Bruce) Recher, Pamela Platt (Skip) Carlson and John H. III (Kathryn); cherished grandmother of Jessica Carlson, Jeff and Mark Recher and Billy Platt; dearest sister of Joe (Phyllis) Steed and the late Willa and Bill (the late Ginny) Steed and Alice (the late Jim) Urban, precious daughter of the late William J. and Katherine Ball Steed.

Kay was a graduate of Florida State College for Woman and a member of the Chi Omega sorority. Professionally Kay began as a teacher and later worked in real estate at Baird and Warner. Additionally, she was a devoted member of St. James the Less. Her volunteer life included the Lyric Opera Chapter, AFS, two book clubs Sunday school teacher, and the Girl Scouts.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30a.m. on Saturday, June 8th at St. James the Less Episcopal Church, 550 Sunset Ridge Rd. Northfield, Interment private.
