

Kay Walden Stone, 79, of Chicago, Illinois, died peacefully on July 5th, 2023 with her beloved husband by her side. Kay was born February 19, 1944 in London, England. She moved to Paisley, Scotland at age five and was raised there with her parents, James and Margaret Robertson, and her older siblings, Margaret, Chrissy, Nancy, Mary, John, and Elizabeth “Betty”. She immigrated to the United States in the early 1970s and joined TWA as a flight attendant. This ignited her lifelong love of travel. Kay had a 30-year career with TWA.
Kay relocated to Chicago, Illinois in the late 1970s with her first husband, Gerald “Gerry” Walden who predeceased her. Kay married Jack Stone on September 2, 1990 and was happily married for 32 years. They were lifelong partners who shared their love of family, travel, the arts, and constant CNN.
Kay was devoted to their family, which included Jack’s three daughters and their children, and Kay’s nieces and their children. She was a staple at every family event and milestone.
Her lifelong love of adventure and travel included yearly trips to her favorite places–London for Thanksgiving, New York for Christmas, and the South of France in July. She also had a passion for Broadway, the opera, symphony, and would often be found at these events in Chicago or during her travels.
Kay was an extremely creative person with exquisite style and taste, which led her to her second career in Interior Design. She was a lifelong collector of beautiful objects including art, antiques, fashion, and accessories. She never left the house without looking like she stepped right out of Vogue magazine. She was beautiful inside and out until the day that she died.
Kay is survived by her husband, Jack Stone, her nieces Donna (David) Sirianni and Fiona (Scott) Beatty; grandnieces Olivia Sirianni, Catherine Sirianni, Lily Beatty, Paige Beatty and; grandnephew Owen Sirianni; stepchildren Elizabeth (Rich) Bane, Rebecca (Barry) Friedland, Jennifer (Paul) Rosenblum; step grandchildren Allie Donnenfeld, Julie Donnenfeld, Hannah Friedland, Noah Friedland, Daniel Friedland, Eddie Rosenblum, Jonathan Rosenblum and Joey Rosenblum; Cousin Margaret Birnie and second cousins Andrew (Fiona) Birnie and John Birnie.
Friends and family will gather for a grave side service at Zion Cemetery Friday at 2:30 pm., 3600 North Narragansett Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60634. Shiva following.
