Roger was born to Helen Cuddy and Louis Frances Casty in Chicago IL on December 16, 1933. He was preceded in death by his first wife Rosalie. Roger and Rosalie had one son Matthew, one Grandson Christopher (Kelly), and Great Grandchildren Khloe and Clark. Roger is also survived by one younger Brother Dennis (Judith), and a brother-in-law James Binnall. Beloved uncle to nieces and nephews, cherished cousins and countless friends. We're thankful for the caregivers that have tended to Roger over his final years. Alfredo, his dedicated companion for over 3 years, kept Roger happy, healthy and safe throughout this pandemic when his spouse was not able to be with him.
Roger attended St Catherine Siena in Oak Park and graduated in 1948. He went to Fenwick High School and graduated in 1952. Roger then went on to college at DePaul University Chicago campus in Business Administration majoring in Marketing where he graduated in 1956. While at DePaul he joined the Professional Commerce Fraternity Phi Sigma Phi and was elected president of the fraternity during his senior year.
Upon graduating from DePaul Roger joined Erwin, Wasey, a Chicago advertising agency. He then joined Armour and Company in the Marketing Research Department and in 1964, moved to Chicago based Stern, Walters & Simmons, Inc. as Marketing Manager. Roger left SWS in 1968 to join CPM, Inc., where he served as VP of Media Operations and a partner of the firm until the Company's sale in 1999.
Roger was an avid golfer; he played with a foursome at the Wilmette Golf Course on Saturday mornings, also enjoyed playing with his brother Denny. He joined groups that needed an extra person at different golf courses in the area. It was not just playing golf but being around friends new and old. Roger traveled extensively over the years with his wife after his retirement. The most memorable was traveling to Israel and walking where Jesus walked. Roger enjoyed photography, and after every trip he would give a CD of the pictures he took to everyone on the tour. Roger also loved, riding his bike up and down the Green Bay Trail and around the Skokie Lagoons up to the Botanical Gardens. Enjoyed bowling with his son Matthew and grandson Christopher. Roger was a diehard Cub fan. He was able to see the Cubs win the World Series in 2016. Roger watched the final game on TV and when they won he looked up and said to his father...we did it! We went down town to see the parade came home and he said "I'll never do that again!"
Roger always tried to help people in need anywhere and everywhere. If anyone who asked for help, Roger would be the first person around to offer suggestions and roll up his sleeves to pitch in. He was always positive in what he was doing at any given moment and dove into it. No matter how dire a situation may have been Roger always found the good. Roger enjoyed life to the fullest. He was always with good humor and had the best stories to tell about life in general. The last few years of his decline he always gave his wife a laugh each time she saw him. Roger was a true blessing, he will be missed.
