Died March 2, 2024 in Chicago, Illinois
Marvin Goldberg was the son of the late Harry Goldberg and the late Ada (née Anfang) Goldberg. He and his late wife Gloria (née Smerling) Goldberg are survived by their two daughters, Honey Lynn Goldberg and Marci (née Goldberg) Gutt. Marvin is also survived by his sister Dolores (née Goldberg) Talackine and was preceded in death by his older sister Muriel (née Segal) Goldberg.
Marvin was proud of his service in the United States Navy during World War II, proud to be a native New Yorker and, most of all, proud and protective of his family. He was very strong and physically fit throughout most of his life, a voracious reader, an avid coin collector, an excellent cha cha dancer, a snappy dresser and a great raconteur. He had an encyclopedic knowledge of gangsters, big bands and movies from the 1930s and ‘40s. He enjoyed Broadway musicals, eating chocolate in any form and traveling the globe. In fact, the picture above was taken on the Antarctic cruise he took for his 90th birthday so he could say he had been on all seven continents.
He was loved by family and friends and will be greatly missed.
