Nancy was the beloved wife to the late Ivan Levin of 28 years, the wonderful mother to Davita Beth Levin-Robinson (Seth Robinson) and Vera Ann Hulteen (Gere Hulteen), and the cherished grandmother of Azriel Ivan Hulteen, Elliot Sawyer Robinson, Liah Ann Hulteen, and Isaac Lev Robinson. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Eli and Julia Winkel, and her sisters, Barbara Friedman and Bobbi Lauber.
Nancy was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois on February 3, 1943. She enjoyed playing with both of her sisters, and going horseback riding and causing mischief with her youngest sister. She often spent her time riding her bicycle, and climbing trees as a child.
Nancy met the love of her life in 1970, and six months later after an innocent tickle, married Ivan Levin. They said their marriage vows on June 12, 1971, and loved each other dearly, always laughing together, and taking care of one another until Ivan’s death in 1999. They had two children together, and loved being a family. On March 12, 1973 their first daughter, Davita Beth, was born. Seventeen months later on August 29, 1974 came their second bundle of joy, Vera Ann. Nancy loved and adored being a mother; playing games with them, teaching them, throwing fun and creative birthday parties, and would do anything for her children.
Nancy always loved helping people in any way that she could. She enjoyed volunteering her time to lead Girl Scout troops, being a Candy Striper in hospitals, tutoring the neighbor’s children, and spent many years volunteering as an Administrative Assistant at Upstage Downstage Children’s Theatre. Nancy also was an avid reader and writer. She would write short story children books and poetry, with several poems that were published. She also enjoyed her own business as a home typist.
Nancy’s biggest joy came when her four grandchildren were born. She loved being a grandma more than anything; playing games with the kids, reading to them, and watching them grow up and blossom into caring and unique teenagers.
Nancy was an amazing and strong person with a huge heart. She always would give a helping hand to others, and would keep a positive mindset no matter what health struggles she endured during her lifetime. She had the most beautiful smile, and loved to laugh and make others laugh. She kept her sense of humor and was smiling until her last moments.
Nancy had a strong faith in God, which gave her strength, joy, and peace. She was the most loving, wonderful, and funniest mother and grandmother ever. She is in God’s loving arms, and is dancing with her husband in Heaven, in perfect peace. Nancy will be forever loved and missed by all who knew her. Her memory will live on in our hearts and will always be a blessing.
