Philip Karmin, 52, of Highland Park, IL passed peacefully at home surrounded by his family on May 11 following a valiant 18-month battle with lung cancer. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Lynne, his children Rachel, Alex and Andrew, mother Lonny Karmin, sister Kathy Shafer (Tom), brothers Kenneth (Beth), and Peter (Linda), and 11 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Kurt Karmin. Philip Karmin was Senior Managing Director of Karmin Capital Management, which he cofounded with his father. He was raised in Glencoe, IL, received his bachelor's degree from Washington University in St. Louis and is an alumni of North Shore Country Day School in Winnetka, IL.
