Shirley B Freilich

Shirley Freilich, 101, beloved wife of the late Dr. Joseph Freilich; devoted mother of Dr. Robert Freilich (Judith Roston), Charles Freilich (Esther Vital), and Jane (David) Clevenger; proud "Grandma" of Alyse Freilich (Andrew Schulkin), Laura Freilich (Thomas Hamann), Michael Freilich (Shannon McGinnis), Jonathan (Jessica Heiman) Freilich, Matthew Freilich, Katherine Clevenger; adored "Great Grandma Shirley" of Sarah, Ethan, Max, Joe, Alexandra, Isabelle, and Olivia; loving daughter of the late Joseph and Ruth Berlau; caring sister of the late Irving Berlau; a dear friend of many; special appreciation shown to Phoebe and Phoeison, Shirley's extraordinary caregivers. Among her many volunteer activities, Shirley worked as a tutor for inner city children and cradled babies from the NICU with tender care at St. Joseph Hospital. She loved to attend concerts, plays, and art exhibits in Chicago. She was totally devoted to her large family and especially to her husband, Joe, the love of her life, with whom she enjoyed a remarkable 62-year marriage. Shirley will be greatly missed.
