Remembering Steve (June 21, 1947- September 6, 2023)
Steve will be remembered for his sense of humor and gentle spirit. He was a world cruiser and loved to tell you about his adventures. He loved Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy... Disney World was his jam.
Steve loved ice cream. He used any excuse in the summer to overindulge. He loved the chocolate shake at Eleven City Diner!
Steve loved animals, especially dogs and our Ruby and Janna's Zoe sensed his special needs and adored him. Steve loved being in the water, on the water and life on a cruise ship. He would be the first mate on his father's boat and they would cruise Lake Michigan together. Steve loved cars and he had a big collection of model cars which he took pride in. He was so excited when the NASCAR Races happened in Chicago in July.
Steve loved watching the fireworks in the city every Wednesday and Saturday night in the summer.
He loved going out to dinner with his people. Steve needed his world orderly and predictable. He was always on time, never forgot a birthday or holiday card.
Steve watched the news each night and could tell you everything that was happening in Chicago, especially the weather. Steve's favorite spot was hanging out on his 20th floor balcony watching the city come to life and watching it go to sleep. He could see marathoners running down Lake Shore Drive, boat regattas and concerts in the park, all from his front row balcony seat.
Steve had a temper, but he cooled down fast and many times it was a frustration with his own limitations.
He was like a purring cat when you showed him patience and kindness.
Steve will be missed and thought of fondly for his surprise quips and funny comments.
We have met some of our favorite and much loved friends through taking care of Steve and we are forever thankful for the many lessons we learned from organizing and watching over his care.
We will think of Steve then we think of Disney.
We will think of Steve on a summer day standing on his balcony watching the boats sail and motor by.
We will think of Steve and how he navigated his world with his challenges with the independence and strong character that his parents helped him to obtain, and was in his true nature.
We will smile when we remember "the dude" as Dory would call him.
With so much love and puppy dog tails,
Camille & Ron
