Dr. Theodore “Ted” S. Eisenman, 84, of Wilmette, IL, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2025. The son of the late Louis and Lillian Eisenman, Ted was a respected anesthesiologist and professor of medicine who practiced for over 40 years at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Ted devoted his life to caring for others. Throughout his distinguished career, he ardently provided empathetic care for his patients while passionately teaching countless medical students. A lifelong learner, Ted read voraciously, consuming a range of genres from medical books to science fiction. Ted was also an avid fisherman who prized time on the water with friends and family, especially on his beloved Green Lake in Wisconsin where he and his family and friends enjoyed countless lifelong memories. Perceptive, sharp, and curious, and above all kind, Ted will be fondly remembered as our loving family patriarch.
Ted was the devoted husband of Janice Friedman Eisenman (née Silver) Ph.D., cherished father of Robert Eisenman, and brother of Edward Eisenman. Ted was treasured by his step children Glenn Friedman (Donna), Peter Friedman (Lisa Acker), Jacqueline Stein (Dr. Robert), and adored by his grandchildren Sarah and Katherine Eisenman, Noah and Lillian Stein, and Miles, Anna, and Lucie Friedman.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 26 at 3:00 PM in the Perlman Sanctuary at North Shore Congregation Israel, 1185 Sheridan Road, Glencoe, Illinois 60022. A reception and shiva will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ted’s name may be made to the Green Lake Association or a charity of your choice.
