For Walter' Family,
I just got home from seeing the movie BFG. Call me crazy but there was something about that gentle giant that brought back fond memories of Wally. I believe it was that special & wonderful expression and the wonderful spirit that made me remember him so fondly. 
I worked @ Montgomery Ward with Him so many years ago. He was someone I always admired! He was a mentor to a lot of young people working there. 
I left the Chicago area about the time Walter passed. When I came home today from seeing this movie, I looked for Walter Moscow on the Internet. That is when I discovered his obituary. So to his family I would like to send my very late condolences. I hope it brings you some comfort that his beautiful spirit lives on in so many ways (not in just his wonderful art which I feel lucky to possess a few pieces)

I have two of his paintings my father bought from him.  They are very darn nice.  He was a talented artist.  I heard the story of my father buying them.  My father was a minister with not a lot of money.  They were introduced through an artist friend in Chicago.  Walter worked with my father to help him get the paintings on installment.  I am a collector, with a number of mid-century American, French and Italian, but the one Moskow sits above my bed... and has for years.  Sad to see he passed.

Dear Loyce: Our deepest sympathy to you and your family on the passing of Walter. He was a wonderful and very talented man. We recall the many intellectual conversations we had when we stopped by his booth at the art fairs over the years. We are so fortunate to have eight of Walter's colorful original pieces of jazz art in our collection. Now when we look at them daily his outstanding work will take on a special meaning. We shared the joy of jazz music and jazz art.

Wally was a real sweetheart- showing me the ropes in my new job at Montgomery Wards Ad Dept years ago. I was fresh out of college and he took me right under his wing. We only knew each other for less than a year before he retired but he made me feel right at home. My very first art investment was, in fact, a jazz painting by Wally that still hangs in our living room. Our friendship lasted through all these years and we managed to stay in touch as a raised a family. My family and I shall never forget him.

We could not have asked for a better neighbor that Wally. Only he would be climbing a ladder to our second story to help take down our vines off our brick walls when we moved in. Wally had a kind soul, a generous heart and what a talented artist he was! He will truly be missed by all who knew him. Our condolences to Loyce and family.

Wally was a wonderful friend and neighbor who was always a pleasure to see. He had only kind words to say and I will remember his quirky sense of humor, his art work full of life, and how much he enjoyed seeing and petting my dog, Julius in his later years. I, we all,  will miss him.

My late husband, Rubin and Walter were fellow art fair artists.  Walter's art will live forever.  My condolences to Loyce and the family.

i am so sorry to hear about wally's passing.  he was the ideal neighbor.  always selfless, thoughtful and full of cheer, he brought a smile to everyone who had the pleasure of seeing him in the neighborhood.  the world is a lesser place without him, and we shall miss him.

Wally was a beautiful neighbor to have for 30+ years.  His ready smile, earnest conversation, and easy humor enriched our lives on the Garrison-Ridge alley.   Condolences to Loyce.

Wally painted pictures of jazz musicians in explosions of brilliant color with such vibrant energy one could nearly hear the sound. I really admired his talent, and am privileged to own a small sculpture he made. He was knowledgable about many topics, and I enjoyed some fine conversations with him.  AND--how cool was it to look out the window on a snowy morning & see him tooling down the sidewalk w/ a snowblower--doing both sidewalks--and well into his 70's! Wally was a really nice man and Ward and I are pleased to have had the opportunity to know him.
