Wan Sang Chung was born on December 25, 1932 in South Korea in the town of Hamyang in the southern province of Gyeongsangnam-do, the oldest of two children. During his young life he experienced two wars, World War II and the Korean War. In spite of the obstacles, he graduated from Seoul National University with a bachelor’s degree in Physics, and shortly thereafter, he met the gospel through his future wife Jasun.
After marrying in 1960 and starting a family, in 1964 he accepted a scholarship for graduate school in Physics at Brown University in Rhode Island. Though not easy at the time, he managed to bring his young family to the United States by 1967. He worked at NASA and Lens-Kote, specializing in vacuum coating of surfaces. He had a passion for investing in the stock market and was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife Jasun Chung, and his three children Timothy and his wife Susan, Mark and his wife Yonjung, and Isabel, along with two grandchildren Aaron and Paula.
