Baldamar Jesus Silva (Valdy) August 17, 1937 – October 12, 2023. Bal unexpectedly, yet peacefully passed away in the hospital surrounded by his family and friends.
Baldamar, also known as his birth name Valdamar was born in Ignacio, Colorado to Pablo Jose Silva and Josephina Silva (Manzanaraz). He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Martha and Ramona, his brother Chris, Wife Mary L. Silva (Kaye), son Edward, and stepmother Susie Silva. He is survived by his brother Leonard Silva (Nori Silva), his daughters Laura Radosevich, Coleen Colson, and Nancy Di Leva (Silva), as well as his partner of twenty-three years, Noemi Rodriguez and sister Loretta Silva.
Baldamar is survived by grandchildren, Joseph Silva, Lawrence Di Leva, Michelle Millis (Radosevich), Sarah Radosevich, and Lauren Oostdam (Di Leva). He is also survived by eight great grandchildren, all of whom will miss Papa very much.
Baldamar’s early life was spent with his parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Through the years, he has shared many stories of his childhood including herding sheep and playing with his siblings and cousins.
As a young man he enlisted in the United States Navy (where a typo changed his name to Baldamar), served twenty-two years Active Duty and eight years in the Reserves. From ship to shore he dutifully served his Country. Baldamar retired as a Chief Petty Officer, E7. His last Sea Tour of Duty was on the CVA43-USS Coral Sea Aircraft Carrier as a Sonar Specialist. His last Land Tour of Duty was as a Top Secret Currier out of Los Angeles, California. After retiring from the Navy, he was a Manager Special Projects for the Republic of China-CCNAA for AJ Fritz, until he retired for the second time. Once again, he decided retirement was not for him, and for seventeen years he worked as a Security Guard for Virco Corporation, when he finally retired for the third and last time in June 2023.
Son, brother, Chief, husband, Dad, Daddy, Papa, Pops, Great Papa, Partner, and Friend. Whatever relationship we had with him, he answered and took pride in his role. He loved like no other.
You will be greatly missed. Rest in Peace Chief, until we meet again.
