Eloy Maciel, 67, passed away on Wednesday Feb. 8th, 2017 surrounded by his immediate family. Eloy, a retired ILWU Longshoreman, was a man who gave his all for his loved ones. He came to Wilmington, California from Purepero, Michoacan Mexico to pursue a better future for himself and his family, the American Dream; with just the clothes on his back and his bravery and persistence, he succeeded in doing just that.
He loved working in the backyard, listening to music and walking his dog. He enjoyed watching soccer and boxing, and was intrigued with ancient civilization and the unknown, but above all he enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters. He gave his all for the well-being and happiness of his wife and children. He would give what he could to help his family and friends in need. Through his kindness and selflessness he gained the hearts and respect of many. His memory will live on through his wife, 4 children and 4 granddaughters; for them, there is no greater example of what a human being should be.
