Emily was born on October 8, 1942 in Long Beach, California to Mike & Maggie Salcido. She had one brother, Mike, born in September 1941. Emily attended Hawaiian Ave. Elementary, Wilmington Jr high, and graduated from Banning High School. She attended beauty school and received her cosmetology license when she started working in Long Beach as a hair dresser. In 1963, she married Christy R. Maynez and in 1966, they had their first child, Rozanne Maynez (Garcia). They had their second child, Anthony, in 1969, and their third child, Michael, in 1979. Throughout the years, Emily enjoyed being a hair dresser, making gift baskets, running the china business, Charmcraft, and working at Harbor Weighers, which her and Christy have owned since 1984. Charmcraft Plaza still stands today on Pacific Coast Highway, in Lomita, and Harbor Weighers is still a thriving business in the Wilmington Industrial Park. After the loss of her son Anthony in 1988, Emily became involved with Parents of Murdered Children and was a regular member of group meetings. Emily loved to dance and she enjoyed going to dances at the Wilmington VFW, scratching lottery scratchers, playing slot machines, cooking, and spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Christy, her daughter Rozanne Garcia, her son Michael (Monica) Maynez, grandchildren Lauren Garcia & Christopher (Malisa) Hernandez, and great grandchildren Jaela & Raelene. She was preceded in death by her son, Anthony Maynez in 1988, her brother, Mike in 1983, and her parents Mike & Maggie Salcido in 2009.
