Helen L. Nunez

1943 - 2025

Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Helen Nunez, passed away on May 18, 2025, at the age of 82 after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

Mom was the heart of our family, a source of strength, warmth and unconditional love.

Affectionately known as "Gram" she built a legacy of compassion, resilience and deep devotion to those she loved.

Mom worked for many years at Seaview Health Clinic in Wilmington, where she was known for her dedication, kindness and strong work ethic, before retiring to spend more time with her growing family.

Helen (Mom) was preceded in death by her daughter Anna Lopez, her son Joseph Lopez and two grandsons, Michael Ruiz and Arthuro Ruiz. Her memory lives on through her surviving children: Max Lopez, Evaristo “Chino” Nunez and Linda Lopez Hernandez. She was the proud grandmother of 16 grandchildren and the cherished great-grandmother of 23 great-grandchildren.

Helen (mom) was the best cook. Her food brought everyone together, especially on the holidays.

Her recipes will be passed down for generations. She had a natural sense of humor and could make anyone laugh, often without even trying. She was straightforward, honest and hilarious, a true original who told it like it was and made life brighter for those around her. She was kind to everyone she met and her beautiful smile was contagious.

Rest in peace, Mom. We will carry you with us, always.

A visitation for Helen will be held Thursday, June 5, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Wilmington, 1640 North Avalon Blvd, Wilmington, CA 90744. A funeral mass will occur Friday, June 6, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St Peter & St Paul Catholic Church, 515 W Opp St, Wilmington, California 90744. A graveside service will occur Friday, June 6, 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Wilmington Cemetery, 605 E O St, Wilmington, California 90744.
