

Annette Whitman Justice, 74, of Wilmington, died June 14, 2025. Born in Lumberton, North Carolina in 1951, she was a longtime resident of Wilmington. Annette is survived by her devoted brother, Lawrence Emmett Whitman, Jr. of Wilmington, a dearest aunt, Francis Edwards of Red Springs NC, a nephew, Thomas Lawrence Whitman of Edenton NC.
Annette was predeceased by her parents, Lawrence Emmett Whitman, Sr. and Evelyn Elizabeth Edwards Whitman, and a sister, Elizabeth Faye Whitman Ward.
Annette was a remarkable woman who tirelessly contributed to her community. Annette worked at New Hanover Regional Hospital for 25 years in administration. She was locally involved in feline animal rescue for 40 years, and she personally cared for felines in need. Annette was also a longtime area political volunteer. Annette was a fixture outside our area election polls as a New Hanover County precinct chairwoman and a political organization volunteer. Annette was awarded “Volunteer of The Year” by the national nonprofit organization, Americans For Prosperity Foundation, in 2015.
Annette also enjoyed gardening and caring for her animals in her tucked away River Road neighborhood home. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Wilmington.
Annette Justice will be missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.
A future graveside service is planned by her family at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 1311 Shipyard Blvd, Wilmington, NC 28412.
