Barbara Anne Pennington Stanley

Born September 28, 1931 in Wilmington, she is a daughter of John Robert Pennington and Cathryn King Birmingham Pennington. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Lt. Col. Pearson A. Stanley, Jr. and her son, John Jay Stanley.

Mrs. Stanley is survived by her son, Glenn Stanley (Sarab); her daughter, Kathryn S. Williams (Joseph); her son, Scott A. Stanley (Evi); her six grandchildren; her brother, Robert Pennington; her sister, Mary Jeanne Pennington Blackham; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mrs. Stanley was an avid reader and enjoyed sharing that by volunteering at the Wilmington Public Library. She was fond of her garden and taking care of her flowers – a source of joy until her last days. She loved and cared for her family dearly and cherished the time spent with her children and grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Oakdale Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8:00 pm Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Andrews Market Street Chapel.
