He was born on December 31, 1927, in Old Hickory, AR, the son of the late John Hawk Houston and Bertha May Massengill Houston. Also remembered is his wife, Jeanette Crawford Houston and his son, William Houston, one brother, Frank Houston, and one sister, Mary Stover all preceded him in death.
Surviving is his daughter, Laura Jeannine Houston, four sons, Brian H. Houston (Caroline), John S. Houston (Katherine), Sherman P. Houston (Napatsorn) and Sam C. Houston; five grandchildren, William, Stephanie, Isabella, Jonathan and Kristin Houston.
Bill was a WWII veteran having served in the US Army and was a graduate of Georgetown University. He was a retired Foreign Service Officer with the Federal Government.
A funeral mass will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at All Saints Catholic Church in Hampstead, NC. Interment will follow at 2:00 pm Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, NC.
