Billie Sidbury Little

Billie Sidbury Little, 92, passed away Thursday, July 6, 2017 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.  Born September 7, 1924 in Wilmington to the late Dr. James Buren Sidbury and wife, Willie Daniel, Billie is survived by her three children: Daniel Sidbury Little (Ann) of Burlington, NC, Robert A. Little, Jr. of Wilmington and Elizabeth Little Brewer (Tom) of Greensboro, NC as well as eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. 

A native Wilmingtonian, Billie spent her childhood summers on Wrightsville Sound and thoroughly enjoyed being near the beach and around the water all of her life.  She graduated from The Emma Willard School in Troy, NY and later from Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Mass.  In 1946 she married Robert A. Little who predeceased her in 1990.  A member of numerous civic and social organizations, Billie enjoyed an active and rewarding life.  She travelled extensively , loved playing bridge with her “circle” and always made time to enjoy the company of friends and family.  The family wants to extend heartfelt thanks to “Miss Billie’s” devoted and compassionate long term caregivers – her A Team – and they are Eva Musselwhite, Tamika Yushaw and Arlinda Robinson. Similarly the family wants to acknowledge the contribution of the caregivers and staff at Home Instead and Trinity Grove.

A memorial service is planned for Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at 10:30AM at Grace United Methodist Church.  The family will receive visitors Monday afternoon from 4:00 to 6:00PM at the residence located at 401 Colonial Drive in Wilmington.  To honor Billie’s memory, contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church or to the J. Buren Sidbury Chair in Pediatrics Endowment Fund c/o Duke University Alumni and development Records, P O Box 90581, Durham, NC  27708.
