Bonnie Sanders Burney

Bonnie Sanders Burney's life was taken on June 11, 2015. Sanders, 12, is the cherished daughter of Louis and Stephanie Burney. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her younger brother Louis III, maternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Kress, paternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Louis A. Burney all of Wilmington and special cousins, Augusta and Fulton Smith and Carter and Chase Adams, who all love her dearly. Sanders is a very lively, intelligent and sweet soul. She is adored by her many friends, teachers and family. She had completed sixth grade cum laude at St. Marks Catholic School and had received the most improved tennis award. Sanders loves the beach, the family camp and is an avid reader. Her spirit, enthusiasm and passion for life is contagious. There are no words to describe how much she will be missed. The family would like to thank the EMS team of Alleghany County, and Mrs. Missy Cass RN who provided great love and care to Sanders during the school year. A memorial service will be at 3:00p at St. James Episcopal Church, Wilmington, NC on Monday, June 15, 2015. The service will be officiated by Reverend Ron Abrams, with a reception following in the Lee Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mark Catholic School in Sanders' name.
