

She was born in Southport, NC, the daughter of the late Nathan Miller and Pinkie Blackwell Miller.
Brenda was a lifetime resident of Wilmington and had an impressive knowledge of the local area. She enjoyed jewelry making, photography, reading and was an avid lover of the beach. She especially enjoyed time spent with her beloved schnauzer, Cloe. Brenda’s big warm smile allowed her to easily make friends wherever she went. Her genuine care and love for all who met her created many wonderful relationships with family, friends, customers and co-workers alike. She also found time for home decorating, fashion, cocktails and was a fabulous cook. Brenda will be remembered for her unique ability to make everyone who knew her feel loved.
Surviving is her loving son, William Shank and wife Monica of Woodbridge, VA; a grandson Gio Gavidia of Woodbridge, VA; three sisters, Peggy Hewett of Wilmington, Glenda Miller of Shallotte, NC, and Linda Roberts of Rocky Point, NC; one brother, Jimmy Miller of Rocky Point, NC; her beloved companion Cloe; a niece, Jessica Sykes of Leland, NC; and a great-niece, Victoria Sykes of Rocky Point, NC.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 pm Sunday, April 23, 2017 at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel with a service of remembrance beginning at 3:00 pm.
