Catherine Rita Hank

Catherine Rita Hank (nee: Shanley) went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 5, 2015. Kay, as she was lovingly known by her family and friends, was born April 22, 1923, in the Greenpoint area of Brooklyn, NY, to Thomas F. Shanley and Susan O'Connell Shanley. She is pre-deceased by her parents, her brother, Thomas and her sister, Mary. Kay leaves behind her loving husband of over 70 years, John Hank, her son, John (Mary Kay) Hank, her daughter Catherine Grady (Mike) and her beloved granddaughters, Colleen and Carolyn Grady and Tara and Erin Hank. Her husband John has lost his best friend and the love of his life. They enjoyed many happy times, traveling, cross-country skiing and sharing good times with their friends and family. Faith was important to Kay; she was very active in the Rosary Society at Nativity Church in Midland Park, New Jersey, for close to 40 years and then helped out with the Rosary Altar Society at St. Mark Church in Wilmington, NC during her retirement years. Kay will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Visitation will be at Andrews Mortuary, 1617 Market St., Wilmington, NC 28401, on Sunday, August 9, 2015 from 6 to 8 PM. Mass of the Resurrection will be at St. Mark Church, 1011 Eastwood Rd., Wilmington, NC 28403 at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 10, 2015. Burial will follow at Oleander Memorial Gardens in Wilmington.
