David Erastus Mintz

David E. (John) Mintz, 70 of Leland, passed away on Monday, January 31, 2011. He was born on October 16, 1940 to the late Homer and Reba Mintz. John courageously battled with health issues for most of his life.

John is survived by four brothers: James E. and wife Laylon, George E. and wife Sudie, Harry E. and Jackie W. and one sister Mary Ann, all of Leland.

John was an avid hunter and enjoyed the sport from his childhood years through the last weeks of his life. John had an unbelievable love for his dogs and spent his life enjoying watching his dogs grow and hunt.

A gathering of friends and family will be held on Thursday, February 3, 2011 from 6 to 8 PM at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 4, 2011 at 2PM at Shiloh United Methodist, 1874 Maco Rd., Leland, NC 28451, with Reverend John Bracy officiating. Burial will follow the service at Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be: Steve Parker, Cody Parker, Bud Maultsby, Ricky Hall, Elijah Sorensen, and Brad Watson.
