

She was born in Supply, NC on February 10, 1937 to the late Mack Allen Moore and Pearl Christine Batson.
Dorothy’s life work was as a registered nurse, wife and mother. As the wife of an Air Force serviceman, Dorothy worked as a nurse in Okinawa, Hawaii, California, then back home in Wilmington. In high school and nursing school, Dorothy played basketball and softball. She also participated in the cheering squad at New Hanover High School. In later life, Dorothy was a member of a breast cancer support group and the James Walker Alumni Association.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Summers Coleman and her brother Mack Allen Moore Jr.
She is survived by her three children, Karen Dawn Reynolds, William Lenox Coleman and Monte Carol Coleman. Dorothy is also survived by three grandchildren, Brett William Reynolds, Ashlee Dawn Reynolds and Heather Anne Reynolds and one great granddaughter, Brooke Orion Knudsen. Dorothy is also survived by her brother Wade Hampton Moore, sister-in-law Gaynell Moore, and nephew David Moore.
A visitation will be held at Oleander Memorial Gardens, in the mausoleum on Saturday, February 13 at 11 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 12 p.m. with Rev. Jimmie Suggs officiating.
