Esther Vernell Rackley Thompson, age 90, of Jacksonville, Florida, formally of Leland, NC went to be with the Lord on November 21, 2023.
She was born in Wallace, NC on September 21, 1933 to Charlie H. and Ruth Ellen New Rackley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Grover Stanley Thompson, her brothers, Irvin, Hayden, Dennis, Russell Rackley, and her sister, Francis R. Corbett.
She was an accomplished pianist, was able to play “by ear.” She enjoyed growing potted plants.
She is survived by her children, NanDora T.C. Holcomb, Steve Thompson (Pam Russell) and Beth Emanuel (Michael). Her grandchildren: Joshua D. Coats (Natasha) and James Emanuel. Her great-grandchildren: Amaera N. Coats, Judson S. Coats, Charlotte M. Coats, Evelyn R. Coats. Her brothers: Alvis, Wade, Michael, and her sister: Elise R. Grimmer.
A Visitation will be held on Friday, December 8th from 12:00pm to 1:00pm at Coble Funeral and Cremation Service, 1155 Shipyard Blvd. Wilmington, NC.
A Graveside service will follow at Oleander Memorial Gardens, 306 Bradley Dr. Wilmington, NC. with Dr. Ronald Sanders officiating.
