George Big George Ray Carlton

George (Big George) Ray Carlton Sr., 60, of Wilmington, NC left his Earthly home surrounded by the family he loved so much on December 28, 2012. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was born June 25, 1952 in Princess Anne County, VA to the late George and Vera Chadwick Carlton.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother David.

George was a Barge Captain for 45 Years, the last 25 years he has worked for Penn Maritime. George was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.

George is survived by his loving wife Linda Davis Carlton; son, George Jr. and wife Leslie; daughter, Tracie and husband Jason; grandchildren, Trevor, Ethan Ray, and Kelsey; great-grandchildren, Chloe and Kayden; a beloved brother Irvin; two very caring sisters, Muffin, and Cindy; the best friend a man could have Donnie; and so many who loved him and will surely miss him.

A funeral service officiated by Lt. Colonels Harold and Shirley Anderson will be held Monday, December 31, 2012 at 1:00pm at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Home in Wilmington. The Family will receive friends on Sunday, December 30, 2012 at the funeral home from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.

Active pallbearers will be George Jr., Trevor, David, Jason, Mike, Larry, Tommy, Chris. Honorary pallbearers will be Donnie and Greg.
