Grace Evelyn Brinson, age 14, of Wilmington, NC went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Thursday, January 27th, 2022. She was born to Amanda Brinson and Matt Brinson on July 25, 2007 in Wilmington, NC. Grace was a Christian and a member of Grace Baptist Church, where she was also baptized in the public confession of her faith.
Grace was preceded in death by her grandfather; Ray Brown and her great-grandparents; Avia Oxendine, Grace Vaughn, and William Vaughn.
Grace was a loving and compassionate person who reveled in get-togethers with family and friends; where her personality excelled, often making her the center of the festivities with endless humor. She exemplified her commitment to live life to its fullest in everything she did, whether it was pushing the limits on rides at amusement parks, to competing in sports, or that ever present rivalry with her older brother Grant. For several years, she played in the Wilmington Hammerheads soccer league where she was a force on defense, earning the nickname "The Brickwall.” She later participated in both soccer and basketball for the Lady Patriots at Wilmington Christian Academy. Grace was very intelligent and excelled in math. She loved and was loved by everyone at Eaton Elementary and attended middle school at WCA where she gained membership into the Beta Club for academic excellence. She then earned acceptance into the early college program at WECHS (Wilmington Early College High School) where she had planned to graduate with college credits to study pharmacy at UNC-CH.
Grace adored animals and enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her beloved four-legged friends. She and Grant shared two cats, Turnip and Jarvis, along with two beagles, Snoopy and Willow. It was Grace who also selected a new puppy, Lucy, for her grandparents when they lost their lab several years ago. Her other interests included photography, dancing, and music and she delighted in mixing all three to make memories of time spent with special friends, including Ava and Felicity. She also enjoyed time with them shopping for unique clothes, biking, going out to dinner, and relaxing at the beach.
Grace is survived by her parents, Amanda and Matt; her brother Grant; her maternal grandparents Jane and Terry Moore; her paternal grandparents Lucille and Al Brinson; Uncles A.W. and Chris Brinson; Aunt Kim Burke; cousins Zoe and Jack Brinson; and numerous extended family and friends.
