

Harold C. Larson, 93, died on October 23rd, 2025 in Wilmington, NC. Harold was born in Chicago, IL and was raised in LaSalle, IL, a small town about 100 miles west of Chicago. Growing up in a rural area instilled in him an appreciation of nature and a desire to preserve our planet. After elementary school he attended two years of junior college at LaSalle-Peru Township high school. He received a BS in Chemical engineering from the U. of Illinois in 1953. went to work for Sinclair research in Harvey, IL and was drafted into the army in 1954. Upon discharge from the army he returned to school at the U. Minnesota to further his education and obtained an MS in chemical engineering in 1957. Also in 1957 two important decisions were made which charted the course of his life for many years to come. He married Minnie Venturelli from Oglesby, IL, his soul mate for life, and joined Union Carbide Corporation, where he spent his entire industrial career for 35 years. The first ten years were as a process engineer in Charleston, WV, followed by twenty five years in various financial capacities at corporate headquarters in Manhattan, NY and Danbury, CT.
Harold and Minnie raised their three children in Wilton, CT: Linda Webb of Carolina Beach, NC, Carla O'Donoghue of Niantic, CT, and Daniel Larson of Marlborough, MA, all surviving, and six grandchildren. Upon retirement in 1992, Harold and Minnie moved back to their roots in Illinois. They relocated to Wilmington, NC in 1995 where they happily spent the rest of their retirement years. Harold enjoyed gardening, fishing, bridge, and dining.
Although Harold was not a religious person, the Golden Rule served as a guide to the conduct of his life. A private family service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations can be made to: NC Coastal Land Trust, 3, Pine Valley Drive, Wilmington, NC 28412.
