

Hazel Johnson Jackson, 83, of Wilmington passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCeter. She was born on December 8, 1929 to the late Clyde and Beulah Johnson in Rocky Mount, NC. Hazel is preceded in death by her husband Robert L. Jackson; siblings, Doris Coley, Delwin Johnson, Graham Johnson; and son-in-law, Ken Huffman. Hazel was raised in Columbus County and attended Campbell College before moving to Wilmington for her first job at Tidewater Power Company. There she met a handsome young man who she married and is now survived by their daughters: Sharon Huffman and husband Joe Newton, Beverly Childers and Sandra Holloway, and son-in-law Joe Holloway. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren; Ashley, Mason, Lyndsey, Landon, Reagan and Jordan; and her siblings, Royce Johnson, Sherwood Johnson and Faye Tentarelli; as well as many nieces and nephews. Hazel was a homemaker until her daughters were older and then she was employed part-time for many years at Sneeden Inc. Mechanical Contractors. Her greatest joy was taking and displaying pictures of her children and grandchildren. Her home was filled with dozens of photo albums and pictures were displayed in every nook, wall and shelf throughout her home. In spite of her physical limitations in recent years she never ever gave up and her legacy of love, faith and hope will always remain with us. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, August 19, 2013 at Winter Park Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
