

Jerry was born March 22nd, 1944 in Wilmington, North Carolina to the late Herbert Joseph Hazard and Verbee Hazard Severe. He served in the US Army as a master sergeant from 1962 – 1968 He proudly served as a drill instructor for the 82nd Airborne Division and the 101st Airborne Division. He was a talented pilot and loved all things aviation and had a passion for photography and technology. Jerry was a loving father, doting grandfather and devoted friend with a servant's heart.
Jerry is survived by his three children, Mark Hazard (Leslie), Marlena Johnson (Terlin) and Mylinda Duncan (Deon); the mother of his children Merle Fox; grandchildren, Hannah Duncan, Alex Duncan (Maranda), William Johnson, Catherine Johnson, Stephen Johnson, Rachel Johnson and great-grandson Mason Duncan; sister Eunice Marie Hamm (James); step-father Jack Severe (Vivian) and his nieces, Debbie Lanagan (Kenny) and Verbee Sensei and nephews, Joe Marino (Celina) and James Shepherd.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00pm, Monday, April 2nd, 2018, at Coble Ward Smith at 3915 Oleander Drive. Funeral service will begin at 3:00pm in the chapel with Pastor Randy Roberts officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at 3:45pm at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 1311 Shipyard Blvd, Wilmington, NC.
