Jack was born on January 26, 1933 in Wilmington, NC, son of the late Frank J. Ellis and Della Shepard Ellis. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Butler and brother, Frank Ellis, Jr.
Jack left Wilmington when he was 17 after working at the Garver manufacturing company with his sister Rheba. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force in the 1950s and then worked briefly for the Central Intelligence Agency in London, England where he was married. After returning to the United States he worked for the Food and Drug Administration in Washington, DC as a computer specialist until his retirement after 31 years. Jack returned to Wilmington in the early 2000s.
Jack is survived by: his son Tony Ellis and wife Kristina of North Potomac, Maryland; grandchildren Sophie and Samuel; sister, Rheba Farrow of Wilmington; nephew Richard Farrow; nieces Deborah Ellington and Jackie Martin, as well as many other family members and friends he had made in the Wilmington area.
