He was born May 11, 1936, in Holly Ridge, NC, to the late Alex and Pauline Blake.
Upon his retirement he enjoyed his time spent on the sound fishing with his brothers, oystering, and crabbing.
James “Murray” is survived by his children Jennifer Blake Fischer, Deborah Blake Taylor, Rex M. Blake and his wife Wendy as well as his four grandchildren Margaret “Maggie” Blake, Zachary Blake, Peyton Taylor Connell, Blake Columby, and Nicholas Blake. He is also survived by 2 brothers Bobby Blake and Jeanette, Jack Blake and Doris, 1 Sister Barbara Pierce.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Frances Atkinson Blake and son Jeffery Dennis Blake and Sister Betty Andrews.
At the request of the of the deceased there will be no funeral service or visitation.
The family would like to thank the office of Dr. Michael Caveness for the personal care they provided as well as Lower Cape Fear Life Care for the care and support given during this difficult time.
